Wayne Bund

Biography

Wayne Bund is a storyteller depicting queer survival through photography and prose. He creates self-portraits that weave performance, costuming, and site-responsive image-making to examine how queer bodies navigate visibility and belonging within landscapes shaped by power and exclusion. He positions his body as both subject and material, employing masks, concealment, and abstraction to create images that blur distinctions between human and landscape. He strives to create chimeras, hybrids of the real and the mystical that bridge fantasy and documentation. At the center of his practice is transformation.


He has worked as a professional photographer for 15 years and has photographed Jinkx Monsoon for Vogue Magazine. He was a featured artist of the Oregon Contemporary Artist Biennial 2026. His work has been exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum, On the Boards, Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, the Ludlow Festival in the UK, SOMarts, Risk/Reward, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, PNCA, and The Cock Gallery. His written work has been published in Foglifter, The Portland Mercury, and The Willamette Week. Bund’s practice has received attention in print and online from The Portland Mercury, Bad at Sports, the Oregonian, The Willamette Week, the Seattle Stranger, Artforum, and Portland Monthly. He has taught classes at PNCA, the IPRC, and the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. He has received grants from the WESTAF Foundation, the Oregon Arts Commission, and the Regional Arts and Culture Council. He studied at Pacific Northwest College of Art where he got his MFA. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon. He is a Pisces Sun with a Scorpio Rising.
