Exhibition Statement
In Value(s), Raphael Arar explores the concept of value(s)—what we value, how we value, and why our values might shift over time. Through sculpture, installation, and object; ambient interactivity and real-time data; Arar examines the meaning of value(s) in the context of ethics, culture, and economics. His works play with the tension that exists in the spaces among our personal ideals, normative values, and our current economic reality.Value(s) is partly funded by the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Special thanks to Olivia Arar, Brandon Mathis, and Kelly O’Toole.
