Simon Boas is a socially engaged data and moving image artist who investigates the theme of permissions at the intersection of technology and personal life. His practice is informed by his training as a journalist. He received his MFA in Digital Art and New Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2018. His work has been exhibited internationally through ACM SIGGRAPH, the Institute of Network Cultures, the University of California, Nisus Gallery, Root Division, Neural, Digicult, and Drain: Journal of Contemporary Art and Culture. In 2017 he co-founded Midgray, an art and design lab dedicated to the nuanced exploration of consent, privacy, and technology.
