Biography

Krystál Pérez is an artist from Miami, Florida, based in Portland, Oregon, whose work encompasses painting, illustration, printmaking, and sculpture. Raised by Cuban refugee parents, her practice explores the intersections of cultural memory, ancestry, healing, and the intimate relationships between people, objects, and environment. Pérez’s work is guided by intuition, sensory memory, and a deep sense of nostalgia, often drawing from field notes, lived experience, family stories, and archival photographs to create deeply personal narratives. Informed by a background in cultural anthropology, her work documents and preserves the ephemeral and easily overlooked details of everyday life, such as family traditions, inherited knowledge, cherished everyday objects, and sensory experiences that might otherwise fade with time.
